Meet the Team
Designing and building a product as revolutionary as the PROtector takes a great deal of time and dedication. Here are some of the people who burned the midnight oil to make it happen:

  Name: Jim Ellis
Project Role: Product Designer and Production Manager
Nationality: American
Place of Residence: Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A.
Bio: Jim has over 32 years of experience in the design and

fabrication of environmental systems, including equipments for membrane
water filtration, heat recovery, air filtration and dust collection. Over the years, he has designed, fabricated and installed over 500 customised aeration, air filtration and air handling systems. Jim has also designed a groundbreaking Vertical Axis Wind Turbine that is silent, and requires almost zero maintenance.

  Name: Jason Green
Project Role: Communications and Press Relations
Nationality: British
Place of Residence: Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.
Bio: As the former President of Orange USA, Jason Green

was responsible for the development of the Orange Amplifier brand and its hugely successful introduction in the U.S. market. Under his guidance, Orange Amplifiers went from being an almost unheard of range of boutique amplifiers to a premium brand familiar to every electric guitarist in America. Today Jason is a partner in the international engineering and supply firm, A+ Trading.

  Name: George Rose
Project Role: Product Consultant and Field Engineer
Nationality: British
Place of Residence: Arundel, U.K. / Nairobi, Kenya
Bio: George has over 11 years of experience in the

capacity of project engineer and consultant for a range of infrastructure improvement schemes. His focus is on water treatment and he has provided design and recommendations for a number of new and existing plants in Kenya. George has conducted a great deal of research into sustainable water treatment technology for rural communities, with an emphasis on salt and fluoride removal from contaminated groundwater.

The Problem:
According to the UN, water-related diseases are the leading cause of death in the world, taking the lives of more than 6,000 people every day. Such diseases are contracted from drinking unsafe, contaminated water  in  locations where

adequate treatment is either unpractical or unaffordable. The total number of people around the globe without sustainable access to safe drinking water currently stands
at over 1 billion - a shocking figure which equals one sixth of the world's population. Whilst the common consensus is to dig wells and drill boreholes, the extracted water is often brackish (salty) due to having a high mineral content – and in many parts of the world, groundwater contains harmful ‘dissolved’ contaminants such as fluoride and arsenic. Furthermore, boreholes, wells and underground storage tanks are prone to contamination from surface run off, sewage and seawater- especially in the wake of a storm, flood, earthquake or other natural disaster.

PROTECTOR water purification systems are able to extract and treat water directly from boreholes, wells, streams, rivers and lakes. The systems use both ceramic and reverse osmosis (RO) filters to remove contaminants such as silt, colloidal particles, bacteria, viruses, protozoa, cysts, metals, fluoride and arsenic. This degree of filtration is also able to reduce salt from brackish water sources, to safe and palatable levels.
